STM studies of the self-assembly of manganese porphyrin catalysts at the Au(111)-n-tetradecane interface

چکیده
The precise structure of monolayers of catalytic manganese porphyrins at the interface of an Au(111)-surface and an n-tetradecane liquid has been determined in a liquid-cell scanning tunneling microscope (STM). Before the addition of the manganese porphyrins, an ordered monolayer of lamellae of n-tetradecane molecules on the Au(111) surface could be imaged. It was found that only domain boundaries in this monolayer were correlated to the underlying gold surface, but not the orientation of the n-tetradecane lamellae and the molecules within them. Both the reconstruction of the Au(111) surface and the ordering of the first layer of n-tetradecane can direct the ordering of the manganese porphyrins that are subsequently added to the liquid phase. 3 Author to whom any correspondence should be addressed. Self-organized monolayer of meso-tetradodecylporphyrin coordinated to Au(111).
The structure of molecular monolayers formed at the interface between atomically flat surfaces and a solution of free-base meso-tetradodecylporphyrins (H2Ps) was examined by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) at the liquid/solid interface. On the surface of graphite (HOPG), H2Ps form a well-ordered monolayer characterized by an oblique unit cell. On Au(111), H2Ps form a self-organized monolaye...

In this paper, a novel core-modified porphyrin with meso-aryl substituents and phenanthrene-fused pyrrole rings (N2S2-OR) is synthesized. Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) has been used to probe its self-assembly behavior on a highly-oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) surface. Our STM results have shown that there is an obvious solvent-dependent self-assembly for the surface-confined target m...

Some meso-tetra aryl porphyrinato manganese (III) acetate or chloride complexes including meso-tetraphenyl porphyrinato manganese (III) chloride (TPPMnCl), meso-tetrakis(2,3-dimethoxyphenyl)porphyrinato manganese(III) acetate, (T(2,3-OMeP)PMnOAc) and meso-tetrakis(pentaflourophenyl)porphyrinato manganese (III) acetate (TPFPPMnOAc) were synthesized. These porphyrins were used as catalyst in the ...

The self-assembly of 5,10,15,20-tetra(4-pyridyl)-21H,23H-porphine (TPyP) on Au(111) electrodes was investigated. The adlayer structure was found to depend on the electrode potential. At positive potentials (>0.5V(SCE)), a disordered layer of TPyP is formed on the Au(111) electrode. STM images showed that the disordered molecules are immobile. At negative potentials (-0.2V(SCE)), however, the mo...
متن کاملSelf-assembly of insoluble porphyrins on Au(111) under aqueous electrochemical control.
Self-assembled monolayers of a water-insoluble porphyrin, tetraphenyl porphyrin (TPP), in the presence of an aqueous electrolyte were characterized in situ with electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy (EC-STM) at working electrode potentials of between 0.5 and -0.2 V. Isolated domains of TPP monolayers with differing orientation were observed on Au(111) in 0.1 M HClO(4) over this entire p...
